What is the difference between UD, 3K and 12K carbon finish? What is the difference of Matte or Glossy finish? UD, 3K and 12K specify the carbon weave pattern. 3K means there are 3,000 filaments per "tow", 12K means there are 12,000 and UD means unidirectional (no pattern). There is usually an option to choose between matte or glossy. Matte results in more stealthy look, glossy will make the pattern pop. Can I have rims without nipple holes in the rim tire bed? Yes, you can decide whether to have nipple holes in the rim tire bed or not. Can I have rims with internal nipple holes? Yes, you can decide either internal nipple holes or external nipple holes. Wheel choice – deciding what rim depth is best This is an added element of modern-day cycling strategy. DEEROBUST has so many different rims at different heights, from 20mm to 88mm. We will offer some guideline on which DEEROBUST wheel matches which type of terrain: 20mm to 40mm depth – “Uphill, long climbs.” 45mm to 50mm depth – “Up and down all day.” 60mm depth – “Some up and down, flat.” 60mm depth front, 88mm depth rear – “Lead outs.” 88mm depth, Disc Wheel, Tri Spokes – Time trials. Symmetrical vs asymmetrical. Asymmetrical rims build up into stiffer, stronger and more reliable wheels by improving the bracing angles of a dished wheel and equalizing the spoke tensions between the drive and non-drive side spokes. On a mountain bike/ Cyclocross/ Gravel bike wheelset with disc brakes, both the front and rear wheels have significant dish. With symmetric rims, the rim is centered (or dished) by decreasing spoke tension on one side relative to the other so that the rim is pulled into center. So using asymmetric rims front and rear will be an optimal option. On a Road bike wheelset, the rear wheel has significant dish.
